Chapter Twelve

Taylor sat at a picnic table, eating his lunch like a good little boy. His colleagues were assembled around him. Ray, who had been keeping him company in a mercifully quiet fashion, had left to take a phone call and rob a vending machine of what he promised were perfectly edible, out-of-date chocolate bars.

“Smack it three times on the left side and give it a good boot on the right.”

Taylor was grateful for the quiet that afforded him time to think.

Charles was at a bench with the managing directors. As far as Taylor could tell, the man hadn’t glanced in his direction. That hurt, but Taylor told himself it was probably a good thing.

They had come so close to getting caught it almost didn’t bear thinking about. Fine, if it had been Ray and his fellow instructor, things would have been awkward, but they would have been able to get away with it. They were paying guests after all, and Ray would no doubt have found it funny. But if it had been one of the staff members at Webb, like Malcolm, God forbid, things would have been different. As much as getting caught being sucked off by the owner of the company would make for one hell of a story to tell the grandkids he would never have, it probably also wasn’t the smartest idea Taylor had ever had.

Sure, he didn’t need the job. They could fire him—Charles could fire him if he wanted to—and it wouldn’t matter, but Taylor would be angry if things came to that. Angry with himself, more than anything.

He was an expert at keeping his work and his family life separate. All through his childhood and teenage years he had successfully kept everything that went on at home away from the attention of prying teachers, social workers, and nurses. Nobody he had ever met knew more about him than was absolutely necessary. He didn’t want to land himself with a reputation when he was only days from getting out Webb’s front door.

Ray was right. Clearly, Taylor needed to get laid. Tired. Stressed. Struggling to adapt to remarkably changed fortune and circumstances. All those factors were no doubt contributing to Taylor’s attraction to Charles. What he needed was someone young, in tight-fitting, cheap high-street clothing, preferably making his way around the dance floor of a trashy club like his spine wasn’t attached at both ends. As soon as he got the weekend over with, Taylor would work on making that particular fantasy a reality.

It was a shame it seemed to be taking a lot more than reasonably sound logic to convince himself he didn’t want Charles. If he didn’t maintain total concentration on inserting salt and vinegar crisps between the two slices of white bread of his cheese and ham sandwich, his mind would wander back to the forest clearing. Back to the image of Charles on his knees, big hands pulling at the front of Taylor’s shorts, or to the sensation of Charles’s fingers on bare skin, the promise of his mouth on Taylor’s cock.
